A white woman is facing felony charges for slapping an 11-year-old African American boy in the face and shouting racial slurs at him after he bumped into her go-kart at a Florida amusement park.

Haley Zager, 30, of Lantana, Fla., was at Boomers in Boca Raton on Saturday when the boy accidentally struck her vehicle on the go-kart track. Zager was charged with child abuse, which was increased to a second-degree felony because of the racial aspect of the incident, according to an arrest report.

The report further stated Zager was charged with four counts of drug possession after Boca Raton police officers found prescription pills in her underwear.

Authorities said Zager confronted the child after the ride, hit him in the face, and used racial slurs while at least three park employees looked on. Zager reportedly admitted to hitting the victim but denied using a slur.

She told the police she was stopped at the end of her race when her go-kart was hit from behind “at full speed.” Zager added when the boy refused to apologize, she “tapped” him in the face, the South Florida Sun-Sentinel reported.

She allegedly used a racial slur while complaining to a Boomers employee. “that f------ n----- hit me in the back,” the arrest report quoted her as saying.

The boy was left with a swollen eye and was treated by paramedics at the scene. Zager was released on her own recognizance Monday afternoon on the condition of being supervised, KIRO-TV reported, citing the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office.

Park officials said in a statement they invited the child and his family on that day to enjoy free rides. “At Boomers parks, we value being a family fun center inclusive to guests of all backgrounds. We are saddened that one of our guests did not possess these same values and we do not condone physical or verbal abuse amongst guests,” the statement read. “We are appreciative of our staff and the police and fire rescue officers who acted swiftly to defuse the situation.”
