The Whitehall Police Department has made no arrests following reports of an active shooter at Lehigh Valley Mall on Saturday.

Chaos erupted just before 5 p.m. on the lower level near Modell’s Sporting Goods when customers heard several gunshots. After hours spent clearing the mall, Michael Marks, the Chief of the Whitehall Township Police Department told CBS Philly that officers have not been able to locate a suspect but did find shell casings on the scene.

“Our primary mission right now is making sure everybody is safe and sound, and that we’re able to reunite people with their families as we go forward here, and then find the perpetrators that committed this,” he said.

There were no reports of injuries on the scene, however, shoppers were left shaken following the incident. Cheryl Furler, a Bath & Body Works employee, told 69 News that she and about 50 other people hid in the store stockroom.

“We barricaded the doors. There’s no way to lock the doors, even into the stockroom. So we took filing cabinets and pushed them up against the doors,” she said.

Officers are still reviewing surveillance footage in hopes of identifying the shooter.

“We don’t have any description that I can give out right now, but as soon as I have it, you will have it,” Marks revealed.

Officials are interviewing dozens of witnesses, and hoping information from the public will help move the investigation forward.

“We’re also asking for the public’s help. If they have any cell phone video, video that was taken inside the mall of this incident,” Marks said. Whitehall Township Police can be reached at call 610-437-3042.
