Who Is Andy Rubin? Android Creator, Ex-Google Exec Runs A ‘Sex Ring’

Andy Rubin, a former executive with Google and co-creator of Android platform is facing allegations of running a sex ring.

The charge was leveled by his wife Rie Hirabaru Rubin in a sensational divorce petition filed at San Mateo County court in California that details Rubin’s multiple mistresses and his sex life.

It said one of the women was a key collaborator with the technocrat in running the sex syndicate. The couple wed in 2009 and started divorce proceedings in 2017.

Android man’s addiction to sex

In the divorce complaint, Rie’s lawyers alleged that Rubin spends much of his time in sex-related activities. The lawsuit charges Rubin of paying the expenses of multiple mistresses “in exchange for offering them to other men.”

The complaint also alleges that Rubin would watch the sex act of women with other men to draw voyeuristic pleasure and join for threesomes.

Rubin left Google after a scandal

Rubin left Google in 2014 after 9 years of service. His exit followed the uproar over an employee's complaint to Google management against Rubin. Google paid him $90 million as a settlement during separation.

Google’s handling of the harassment case had drawn criticism as it appeared the company was protecting Rubin despite allegations of sexual misconduct.

After leaving Google, Rubin founded the Essential company, which sought to launch an alternative to Android and iPhone. But that failed to tickle the market.

In 2017, he took a break from Essential, after Google ordered a probe into his relationship with the subordinate. A spate of media reports also kept him under pressure.

Wife alleges attempt to deny property

Rubin and Rie had been battling in court to keep the content of the complaint confidential. Finally, a California state judge in April allowed unsealing of the complaint while keeping some portions sealed.

A media outlet has released the unsealed portion of the complaint in a PDF format.

Now part of the complaint has been unsealed. They expose serious allegations against Rubin.

One pertains to a pre-nuptial agreement that he got signed by Rie a few days before their wedding.

The complaint calls the pact “unconscionable” and a well-orchestrated act to deny her property rights. The complaint demanded its immediate annulment.

The divorce complaint calls the agreement, “unconscionable, capping spousal support and stripping Plaintiff of her community property rights under California law without informed consent.”

The unlocked part of allegations also suggests that Rubin hid payments from the Plaintiff (Rie) during their marriage by using his individual bank account and routed payments to other women via his wholly owned company Cosmofion LLC.

“This validates that Rubin was motivated to coerce and defraud Plaintiff to enter into an unconscionable Premarital The agreement so to conceal and engage in illicit sexual activities and ensure the flow of payments of hundreds of thousands of dollars to other women “without being detected by Plaintiff.”

Rebutting the allegations, Rubin's lawyer Ellen Stross said it is a family law dispute “involving a wife who regrets the decision to execute a prenuptial agreement.”

The lawyer also called the lawsuit a pack of false claims and added: “We look forward to telling our side of the story.”
