Who Is Ariana Grande Lookalike In ‘Thank U, Next’ Music Video? Meet Gabi DeMartino
Ariana Grande has plenty of familiar faces in her “Thank U, Next” music video, including one with a mug that looks like her own. YouTube vlogger Gabi DeMartino will make an appearance in the highly-anticipated video.
“Ariana says ‘honest to god, knock me out,’ So I decided to punch myself in the face. It was awesome,” DeMartino excitedly says to the camera in the teaser, seen above. The line is paying homage to the famous “Who is Regina George?” scene in “Mean Girls.”
DeMartino has had her Fancy Vlogs by Gab YouTube channel since July 2015 where she has nearly 2.2 million subscribers and has accrued over 218 million views. In addition, she has 2.9 million Instagram followers and 1.23 million Twitter followers. A common comment on her videos is that she looks much like Ariana Grande.
The YouTuber, who is also a singer, has leaned in to the comparisons, making videos such as Ariana Grande make up tutorials, covers of Grande songs and testing Grande’s fragrance line. Other video titles include “pretending to be ariana grande & actually fainted in limo lol” and “I lived like ariana grande for a day parody.”
DeMartino met Grande at a 2017 meet and greet during the Dangerous Woman tour. Though commenters might hate on DeMartino for imitating Grande’s look, the celebrity seemed to be OK with her style when they met.
“You look beautiful,” Grande said in a recording of the visit. “We have like the same thing going on. So cute!”
On Tuesday, DeMartino shared a new photo of her and Grande on the “Thank U, Next” set.
Apparently, there are still some haters despite DeMartino getting Grande’s stamp of approval. On Tuesday afternoon, she tweeted: “thank you for all the love. dealt with so much bs for years && for those who are pissed abt this- thank you, next and pls stop trying to bring me down now. especially now. [sic] ”
The vlogger isn’t just a Grande lookalike. She is one half of YouTube duo Niki & Gabi with sister Niki Demartino, and they have over 7.2 million subscribers. Gabi also has a web series called “Blood Queens,” a parody of “Scream Queens.”
The full “Thank U, Next” video is expected to be released Friday. In addition to “Mean Girls,” Grande is expected to riff on other early 2000s female empowerment hits like “Legally Blonde,” “Bring It On” and “13 Going On 30.”
