“Charlotte’s Web” no longer only refers to the 1952 children’s novel by E.B. White, but to the fan base of a woman named Charlotte Awbery.

Awbery, a London native, went viral almost overnight after a video of her singing in the London subway was posted on Instagram Wednesday, according to BuzzFeed.

The 30-year-old professional singer was minding her own business when suddenly a microphone was shoved in her face and she was asked to “finish the lyrics.” The microphone was held by YouTuber Kevin Freshwater who was filming a segment called “Finish the Lyrics” where he goes and sings a line of a song to unsuspecting strangers and then asks them to finish it.

When Awbery walked down the subway stairs he sang, “Tell me something, girl/ Are you happy in this modern world?” and Awbery immediately responded with “Or do you need more?” before continuing to belt out the chorus of “Shallow” by Lady Gaga.

Awbery has now surpassed 290,000 followers on Instagram and received the certified blue checkmark. She also has fan accounts set up all over the world. Her fans like to frequently post photos and videos of the singer covering popular songs.

Her instant fame also caused the song “Shallow” from the 2018 Oscar-nominated film “A Star Is Born” to rise back to popularity on iTunes. Thursday it was at number 30, Oprah Magazine reported.

It’s unclear what the future holds for Awbery and her newfound fame, but people seem to be blown away by her talent.
