Who Is Craig Louis Coyne? Barbara Bush Marries Actor In 'Intimate' Ceremony
Former President George W Bush’s daughter Barbara Bush married actor, writer Craig Louis Coyne in an "intimate" ceremony Sunday, according to reports.
In an Instagram post, the former president posted a picture of the ceremony at Walker's Point in Kennebunkport, Maine.
"Barbara is named for a unique and strong woman — and rightly so because she is unique and strong. @laurawbush and I are so proud of our compassionate, daring, fierce, kind, intelligent, loving daughter. And we’re thrilled to welcome Craig Coyne to our family," he wrote.
Jenna Bush Hager, the bride’s sister, also took to Instagram to share pictures of the wedding.
“Happy tears, heart exploding as I watched this beautiful girl get married in the place that means love and family. I’m so proud to be this beauty’s sister,” she said in one post.
“My heart exploded last night as I watched my dearest sissy get married in Maine. It was just like her: private (only family!) and full of love (and yes lots of tears!),” she wrote in another post.
The 36-year-old married Coyne, 37, in a private ceremony at their family estate. The former president walked his daughter down the aisle, with her wearing a custom Vera Wang gown as her family, including her sister, mother and her grandfather George H. W. watched on. The wedding was officiated by Barbara's aunt, Dorothy Bush Koch, reported Daily Mail.
The wedding comes six months after the demise of her grandmother and namesake, former first lady Barbara Bush. The former first daughter paid tribute to her grandmother by wearing a piece of her jewelry, a bracelet gifted to her by her grandfather.
Her sister paid tribute to the late first lady by reading out a letter written by her grandfather to her grandmother at the wedding reception, reported FOX 23 News.
“I ended with a letter that my grandfather wrote to my grandmother because I searched all the romantics and Shakespeare just wasn't doing it. He was sitting right next to me as I read it,” she said.
Coyne is an Atlanta native who attended Pope High School in Marietta, Georgia, and graduated from the prestigious Vanderbilt University in Nashville. In his Linkedin profile, he listed himself as an Independent Motion Pictures and Film professional. He is a comedy writer and actor who acted in the 2005 film “Jarhead.” He has written for Comedy Central and other television projects as well.
The couple met in November last year after being set up on a blind date by friends. By the end of the year, they made their relationship official.
"It’s just been a very sweet romance," Barbara said. "And we’ve been long-distance for most of it — he’s been in LA and I’ve been in New York — but we’ve gotten to spend a lot of time together."
They became engaged five weeks ago after Coyne moved from Los Angeles to New York City to live with Barbara.
According to reports, Coyne proposed to Barbara in the same spot her grandparents became engaged 75 years prior.
