Who Is Dakota Johnson Dating? 'Fifty Shades Of Grey' Actress Denies Relationship Rumors
Dakota Johnson is starring in one of the most buzzed-about "romance" films of the year, “Fifty Shades of Grey.” But Anastasia Steele (Johnson) and Christian Grey (Jamie Dornan) aren’t becoming a real-life power couple any time soon. While Dornan, 32, is a husband and father, Johnson, 25, is reportedly dating Matthew Hitt -- though she recently denied that she's in a relationship.
Just who is Johnson's rumored boyfriend? Hitt, 25, is the lead singer of a band called Drowners. According to the band’s Twitter, they’re based out of New York, which is where he and Johnson are often photographed. Hitt has posted a picture on Instagram where the musician and another friend were jokingly on top of her with the caption “Cuddle Puddle.” The two have been spotted together several times since July and were once photographed kissing, which is when rumors of their relationship ignited.
But Johnson -- daughter of Don Johnson and Melanie Griffith and granddaughter of Tippi Hedren -- is claiming that she's single. When asked if her significant other supported her choice to star in such a sexually explicit movie, she told the Telegraph, “My imaginary boyfriend thinks it’s great. He’s very supportive.”
Johnson declared that her dog, Zeppelin, was the only man in her life, and she claimed her life was too hectic for a steady romance. “I don’t have a lot of time for a relationship," Johnson said. "I’m too busy pretending and then I go home and there’s no one.”
It isn’t clear if Johnson is being secretive about her relationship or if she and Hitt broke up, but the “Fifty Shades” actress seemed adamant that she was single. Any man Johnson dates will have to be supportive of the “Fifty Shades of Grey” films, since there are two more in the works. Director Sam Taylor-Johnson recently confirmed that the book’s sequels, “Fifty Shades Darker” and “Fifty Shades Freed,” also will be adapted for the big screen.
“Fifty Shades of Grey” hits U.S. theaters on Friday.
