Who Is Devon Dalio? Billionaire Ray Dalio Shares ‘Terrible Pain’ After Son’s Death
Billionaire Ray Dalio confirmed the death of his son Devon Dalio in an emotional tweet following a tragic car accident.
On Friday, the hedge fund founder share news about the emotional toll Devon’s death took on the family.
“It is with great pain that I am sharing with you that my 42-year-old son was killed in a car crash yesterday. My family and I are mourning and processing and would prefer to be incommunicado for the time being,” he tweeted.
Ray continued, “We know that the terrible pain we are feeling has been and continues to be felt by so many others so our sympathies go out to them. May God be with you and may you cherish your blessings, especially at this time of year.”
Greenwich Police and Fire Chief Joseph McHugh told the Greenwich Time that Devon was in a 2016 Audi when the vehicle drove into a Verizon store at the Riverside Commons shopping center on East Putnam Avenue near Exit 5 of Interstate 95.
Greenwich Police Department Public Information Officer Mark Zuccerella told the outlet the crash took place around 3:50 p.m. and resulted in the store being “completely engulfed in smoke.”
At the time of the crash, the police department warned locals to avoid the area. “GPD is responding to a motor vehicle accident and active fore [sic] in the Thruway Shopping [sic] Center at Exit 5,” the tweet read.
“The area approacing [sic] the E Put and Exit 5 intersection will be closed and traffic deverted [sic].”
Officials suspect the gas tank most likely ruptured upon impact, but investigators are still working to determine the cause of Devon’s crash.
Connecticut Governor Ned Lamont expressed his condolences to the Dalio family following news of Devon’s death.
“As parents, we cannot imagine the grief and sadness of their loss, he said in a statement.
“Our prayers are with Ray and Barbara, who have been champions for Connecticut’s children.”
Devon is survived by his parents Ray and Barbara Dalio, his wife, daughter, and three brothers.
