Who Is Donna Brazile? Hillary Clinton Rigged Nomination, Former DNC Chairwoman Says
Former Democratic National Committee Chairwoman Donna Brazile revealed groundbreaking information Thursday regarding the workings of the party during the 2016 election and nomination process. Brazile claimed that Hillary Clinton rigged the Democratic nomination system so that it would favor her, according to an excerpt from Brazile’s new book provided to Politico.
Brazile, now a political analyst, took over as interim DNC chair in July 2016 after the resignation of Debbie Wasserman Schultz. Previously a CNN contributor, she was dismissed from her contract with the network after it was revealed that she gave advance notice to Clinton about a debate question. Brazile’s personal website refers to her as a “veteran Democratic political strategist, adjunct professor, author and syndicated columnist.”
In an excerpt from her new book, Brazile said she found “proof” that Clinton rigged the nomination process and that it “broke her heart.” Clinton’s campaign took on the DNC’s $24 million debt by placing the party on an allowance, Brazile said.
“The funding arrangement … was not illegal, but it sure looked unethical,” she wrote. “If the fight had been fair, one campaign would not have control of the party before the voters had decided which one they wanted to lead. This was not a criminal act, but as I saw it, it compromised the party’s integrity.”
