Who Is Gary Oldman’s Wife? Meet Gisele Schmidt, Oscar Nominee’s Better Half

Gary Oldman is a projected front-runner for the best actor win come Sunday’s Academy Awards. If the Oscar nominee wins for his starring role in the “Darkest Hour” drama, it’s highly likely he’ll thank his wife during his speech. But before cinephiles find out if Oldman has secured the acting honor, here’s what you need to know about his better half.

Gisele Schmidt is the current wife of the 59-year-old “Harry Potter” franchise and “Tinker Tailor Solider Star” star. The pair met several years ago, before Oldman officially divorced his fourth wife Alexandra Edenborough in 2015.

It was revealed in November that the two said their vows in August 2017. The nuptials, which include dozens of friends in attendance, took place at Oldman’s manager Doug Urbanski’s home in Beverly Hills, California.

The wedding marked the fifth for Oldman who was previously married to Edenborough, Lesley Manville, Uma Thurman and Donya Fiorentino, with whom he shares two adult children.

Since their wedding, the pair have made numerous red carpet appearance leading up to Sundays’ 90^th Annual Academy Awards. Last month, Schmidt was Oldman’s date to the Golden Globe Awards where he won best performance by an actor in a motion picture - drama. Schmidt was pictured proudly posing next to Oldman at the Academy Awards luncheon on Feb. 5 and during The Hollywood Reporter’s 6^th Annual Nominees Night later that same day. She was most recently photographed with Oldman at the BAFTA Awards in London on Feb. 18.

So, just who is the wife of the projected Oscar winner? Like Oldman, Schmidt is also involved in the arts. US Weekly reports she’s an art curator. According to Page Six, Schmidt is credited with introducing Oldman, a photographer, to artist and fellow photographer Ian Ruhter. She later wrote about the pair for the Laboratory Arts Collective’s Build magazine. Like the actor, Schmidt has also been previously married.

During a red carpet appearance in November, Oldman told reporters his wife had been with her ex for 20 years and share a 9-year-old son. Oldman went on to call Schmidt’s ex a “great guy” and said he even attended their wedding.

“We’re all very friendly,” he said, according to NY Daily News. “He said, ‘We should have been friends. I wasn’t Mr. Right.’”

“I've gone through my thing and we’re like peas in a pod,” Oldman added of his latest marriage. “I’m nearly 60 and at last I think I’ve come home.”
