Who Is Helen Wisner Strickland? Craig’s Wife Responds On Instagram After Country Singer Is Found Dead
Helen Wisner Strickland, the widow of country singer Craig Strickland, issued a touching Instagram statement after her husband was found dead in Oklahoma Monday after being missing for nearly a week. He was 29 years old.
Wisner Strickland, who was Miss Arkansas 2014, took solace knowing her husband was with God now. “We can finally rest knowing that he is at Home in Heaven with his Father,” she began her IG post.
Strickland went on a duck-hunting trip with his friend, Chase Morland, Dec. 26. He was reported missing two days later.
Their boat capsized and Strickland was able to swim to land, but he succumbed to the elements. “The night of the accident he had fought his way out of the water and up a hill before the stages of hypothermia set in. He experienced no pain in his final moments and simply felt like he was falling asleep,” Wisner Strickland wrote. “They found him lying in the shape of a cross looking up to his Father.”
Morland's body was found earlier.
Wisner Strickland finished her post by thanking everyone for his or her prayers. She said the thoughts helped her husband in his final moments. “There was not a more peaceful way for him to go into the arms of our Lord, and I know your prayers had a role in making that happen. I know he saw Jesus at that moment when he laid down and walked arm in arm with Him into a better Everlasting Life,” she said.
Wisner Strickland, 26, works as a speech teacher at Shiloh Christian School is Springdale, Arkansas. She and Strickland had been married for a little over a year. They wed after two years of dating.
Wisner Strickland regularly shared pictures of her husband and her beauty pageants. The last new picture they shared together was from Christmas, the day before he went on the hunting trip with his friends.
