Who Is Kelly Stafford? Wife Of Detroit Lions QB Matthew Stafford Opens Up About Brain Tumor
The wife of longtime Detroit Lions quarterback Matthew Stafford took to Instagram on Wednesday to reveal she had been diagnosed with a brain tumor.
Kelly Stafford, 29, was diagnosed with an acoustic neuroma resting on her cranial nerves, which requires surgery.
She detailed on Instagram her bouts with vertigo, the MRI process and the fears she has of surgery.
Kelly Stafford is an Atlanta native and the sister of former NFL player Chad Hall, who is currently a wide receiver coach for the Buffalo Bills. She met Matt Stafford when they were both undergrads at the University of Georgia and while she was a cheerleader for the Bulldogs. After finishing college, she attended nursing school and become a registered nurse in 2014.
Kelly Stafford would also find herself working with several charities alongside her husband, most famously dancing in a “Dancing with the Stars” charity show for Jack’s Place for Autism Foundation. In December 2016, the couple helped out families of fallen Detroit police officers, Myron Jarrett and Ken Steil, and delivered gifts to their families.
She often uses Instagram to express her feelings about her husband and the Lions, as well as to share pictures and notes about the family. Her Instagram account has more than 173,000 followers and close to 2,500 posts.
Kelly and Matt married in April 2015. They have three children: identical twin girls, Sawyer and Chandler, in 2017 and a third daughter, Hunter, born in 2018.
