Who Killed Christina Carlin-Kraft? Former Playboy Model Found Dead In Bedroom
A former Playboy model was found strangled to death in her apartment in a Philadelphia suburb Wednesday. Christina Carlin-Kraft's body was discovered during a welfare check at her home in Ardmore, Pennsylvania.
The Montgomery County Coroner's Office determined the cause of death to be homicide by "ligature strangulation." The mysterious circumstances leading up to the death of the 36-year-old was under investigation.
Carlin-Kraft's murder took place just three days after she reported a burglary at her flat. Police had arrived at her home to investigate the robbery. On Wednesday, police recovered some of her stolen goods -- including jewelry and designer handbags -- in south-west Philadelphia.
Local ABC affiliate 6ABC reported, citing sources, surveillance video from the night before Carlin-Kraft was found showed a man following the model into her building. Law enforcement probing the case said the man is believed to have jumped off her balcony to exit. The man was not seen in the footage exiting the building.
Ardmore resident Dave Farina told ABC 6 he was shocked to hear of the homicide.
"We never had that type of thing in Ardmore. Hardly ever. It's enough to make me cry," Farina said. "I'm praying for them that they find out who did it... and bring them to justice."
Officials said there “doesn’t appear to be any current concern” for residents of the Ardmore, Pennsylvania area.
On Friday, police issued a "Be on the Lookout" bulletin for the suspect wanted in the burglary at Carlin-Kraft’s home. Multiple police sources told Action News that police are searching for 31-year-old Andre Melton of Southwest Philadelphia. However, the burglary suspect has not been implicated in the model's murder.
Carlin-Kraft’s Model Mayhem page lists work credits including, Vanity Fair, Maxim Magazine, Victoria’s Secret, Redkin, L’Oreal, MAC Cosmetics, Playboy, QVC, Smashbox makeup and more. In her bio, she described her nationality as Russian, German, with a hint of Swedish. She added she did a "tasteful photo shoot for Playboy that was beyond Hollywood glamour."
"I've done runway shows, print work, commercials for jewelry and evening gowns. I would like to build my portfolio with some more creative photographers who specialize in glamour and very high fashion!" Carlin-Kraft wrote. "I really do enjoy photo shoots for swim wear and tasteful lingerie. I'm willing to travel and I love to meet new exciting people with high energy and a kind heart. I look forward to working with you and hope to make this a great experience!"
