Who Is Kimberly Guilfoyle? Fox News Host Might Replace Sean Spicer As White House Press Secretary
Following reports that White House press secretary Sean Spicer might be on the outs, Fox News host Kimberly Guilfoyle emerged as a possible contender for the position. Though there’s been no official word out of the White House regarding either Spicer or Guilfoyle’s future in the administration, Guilfoyle herself said she would find the job “fascinating.”
“I’m a patriot and it would be an honor to serve the country,” she told the Bay Area News Group Monday night. “I think it’d be a fascinating job, it’s a challenging job, and you need someone really determined and focused, a great communicator in there with deep knowledge to be able to handle the position.”

Guilfoyle, who was originally considered for press secretary before Spicer was given the position, told the Bay Area News Group that the idea of her getting a role in the White House was “raised by a number of people.”
Currently a co-host on Fox News’ “The Five” on weeknights, Guilfoyle was formerly an assistant district attorney in the San Francisco and Los Angeles District Attorney’s offices as well as a legal analyst for ABC News. She joined Fox News as a legal analyst in 2006.
"Kimberly is a valued member of the FOX News primetime lineup, and is under a long-term contract with the network," a spokesperson for FOX News told International Business Times.
"As I stated in the interview, I really love what I do and my job co-hosting The Five is tough to beat," Guilfoyle said through a spokesperson.
Following the firing of FBI Director James Comey, current press secretary Spicer was notoriously absent for a number of days from White House press briefings. Standing in for him was principal deputy press secretary, Sarah Huckabee Sanders, fueling speculation that he might be next in line to be fired by President Donald Trump. Citing officials, the New York Times and the Wall Street Journal both reported that Spicer might be let go.
Trump was becoming “increasingly dissatisfied” with the performance of his communications department, including Spicer, Chief of Staff Reince Priebus and communications director Michael Dubke, the New York Times reported Saturday. Trump reportedly was not satisfied by the communications’ team handling of the fallout that came after he fired Comey.
At one point, he threatened to get rid of press briefings altogether.
“The Fake Media is working overtime today!” Trump tweeted Friday. “As a very active President with lots of things happening, it is not possible for my surrogates to stand at podium with perfect accuracy. Maybe the best thing to do would be to cancel all future “press briefings” and hand out written responses for the sake of accuracy.”
Guilfoyle mentioned on her show last week that she thought Trump’s press team was lacking, though she did not mention herself.
“If you want to be successful and do communications with President Trump, you have to be someone who he actually wants to spend a little bit of time with,” she said on the show. “You’ve got to insist on getting in front of POTUS, talk to him, and have like, fix, six minutes with him before you go out there and take the podium and otherwise you’re driving blind.”
Guilfoyle herself has known the Trump family for more than 10 years after meeting at a charity event after she moved to New York in 2004.
“It has to be somebody with a very close relationship, where there’s trust there, there’s inherent loyalty, someone who’s been there from the beginning,” she said on her show. “I think I have a very good relationship with the president. I think I enjoy a very straightforward and authentic, very genuine relationship, one that’s built on trust and integrity, and I think that’s imperative for success in that position.”
