Who Is Laeticia Hallyday? Johnny Hallyday’s Wife’s Heartbroken Message Over Musician’s Death
France’s first and the biggest rock star, Johnny Hallyday’s wife announced that her husband had died Wednesday at the age of 74 after battling cancer.
Johnny’s wife, Laeticia Hallyday, was heartbroken over his death. She described how she held onto her husband till his last breath, even installing a small bed inside the large medical room in their house in Marnes-La-Coquett, where Johnny spend his time after his lung cancer worsened, French media outlet Gala reported.
Laeticia released the following touching statement after her husband’s death: "My man is no more. The father of our two little girls, Jade and Joy, is gone. Laura's dad and David closed his eyes. His blue eyes will illuminate our home and our souls again and again.”
“Today, out of respect and love for this extraordinary man who was mine for more than 22 years, to perpetuate his passion for life, thrills, emotions without half measure, we unite all our prayers and our hearts. We think of him so much that he will always be with us, alongside those who listen to him, sing and cherish him forever,” Laeticia wrote, according to another Gala report.
In the end, she concluded: “Johnny was an extraordinary man, he will remain so thanks to you, above all, do not forget He is and will remain with us forever, my love, I love you so much."
Laeticia was born Laeticia Marie Christine Boudou on March 18, 1975, in Béziers, Hérault, France. At the age of 10, her parents divorced and she came over to the United States with her father, who immigrated to Miami. She was always passionate about fashion and quickly launched her career as a model in the U.S. She went on to act in a number of French movies such as “Rock'n Roll” (2017), “Vivement Dimanche” (1998) and “Vivement Dimanche prochain” (1998), according to her profile on IMDB.
After her father opened Amnesia, a nightclub in Miami, he became friends with Johnny, whom he later introduced to Laeticia. Despite having an age difference of 32 years, it was love at first sight for both of them, according to reports.
Johnny and Laeticia got married on March 25, 1996. The couple has two adopted children. In November 2004, the couple adopted Jade, a Vietnamese girl born on August 3, 2004. In 2008, they adopted another Vietnamese child – Joy – born on July 27, 2008.
Laeticia said that she prayed for a miracle till the end, as she comforted and care for Johnny, refusing to let go of the hope that she would be able to spend Christmas this year, with him by her side.
Johnny has been married five times, twice to the same woman, the daughter of one of his oldest friends and songwriters. Apart from his physical illness, Johnny also had his own set of demons to deal. He attempted suicide in 1966, collapsed on stage in 1986.
Celine Dion, who has collaborated with Johnny multiple times during her tours, mourned his death. “I'm very sad to hear the news that Johnny Hallyday passed away,” she wrote in a tweet. “He was a giant in show business...a true icon! My thoughts go out to his family, his loved ones, and to the millions of fans who adored him for many decades. He will be sadly missed, but never forgotten.- Céline xx…”
