Update 12/31, 7 p.m. ET: TMZ reported Tuesday evening that the mother of Dwyane Wade's newborn son, Xavier Zechariah Wade, is a 30-year-old woman named Aja Metoyer.

News of actress Gabrielle Union and NBA star Dwyane Wade’s engagement made national headlines last week but the excitment over the duo's impending nuptials was only short-lived after Wade shocked the world Monday by confirming that he fathered a baby boy while on a break from his now 41-year-old film star fiancée.

The 31-year-old Miami Heart guard discussed the shocking admission during a press conference prior to a game against the Denver Nuggets on Monday, saying, “In our time apart, in our break, in our pain and our hurt, a blessing came out of it in my life, having a son who was born healthy.”

The child is about 1 month old and joins Wade’s two other sons -- Zion and Zaire -- from his previous marriage to Siohvaughn Funches, according to ESPN.

So just who is this mystery woman? According to reports from HipHopWired, the mother of Wade’s third son is Sandrina “Sandy” Schultz, a longtime friend of the NBA star. Unlike Wade’s “Think Like A Man” fiancée, Schultz isn’t exactly famous in the world of entertainment, but she isn't exactly an unknown either. The rumored biological mother of the professional athlete’s child first made headlines in September for exposing her alleged affair with NBA player Lamar Odom, the estranged husband of reality TV star Khloe Kardashian.

Schultz, then a 29-year-old graduate student, told Star magazine that she had sexual relations with the 34-year-old Los Angeles Clippers player in March of 2012 after several years of dating on-and-off. According to Schultz, the duo was an item in 2009, the same year Odom’s proposed and subsequently married Kardashian.

“It was shocking that he called me since he was married to Khloe,” Schultz said when recounting their March 2012 affair to Star magazine. “At the same time, I wanted to see him and let him see what he missed out on,” she later added, going on to allege that the duo spent two nights together “hugging and kissing.”

Union announced her engagement to Wade on Dec. 21 by posting an image of her 8.5 carat cushion engagement ring on social media. “Sooooo this happened…#Yessss,” the actress wrote. Wade added his own confirmation on his official Twitter account, posting the same image alongside the message, “She said YES!!! @gabunion.”
