Who Is Shadi Petosky? Transgender Woman Delayed By TSA Workers At Orlando Airport Over Anatomical ‘Anomaly’
A transgender woman was allegedly delayed by Transportation Security Administration (TSA) workers at the Orlando International Airport Monday over an anatomical “anomaly.” Shadi Petosky live-tweeted her ordeal saying that she missed her American Airlines flight due to the incident.
Petosky said she was delayed after authorities thought her body parts did not match her gender identity, NBC News reported.
"I stepped into the full body scanner, the TSA agent looked at me and pressed the F button," Petosky said in an interview with NBC News via text message. "The scanner picked up an 'anomaly' in my crotch area. I said, 'I'm transgender. That's my penis,'" Petosky recalled. "The TSA officer then said something like, 'If you are a man, then go back in the machine and we'll run you as a man.'"
Petosky expressed her frustration and confusion about the treatment she received by the TSA and police officers on social media. She said she was angry when she was asked at one point what her gender was.
