Richie and her rumored new boyfriend were seen having dinner at a posh spot in Malibu. It was later revealed that her rumored new boyfriend is 27-year-old Matthew Morton.

Morton comes from a clan of business-minded individuals, so him being the founder of Cha Cha Matcha doesn’t come as a surprise for people who know the family. Richie’s rumored new boyfriend is the brother of the late founder of Pink Taco restaurant chain, Harry Morton, Page Six reported.

Morton’s father, Peter Morton, is one of the founders of the Hard Rock Café, which has branches across the globe, including Paris, New York, London, Los Angeles and Toronto. Matthew’s grandfather, Arnie Morton, put up the Morton’s The Steakhouse.

His Business

Morton co-founded Cha Cha Matcha after trying green tea in Japan. Upon learning of its benefits, the businessman decided to bring the drink to the United States, noting that there was a “stigma around tea vs. coffee.”

“Somehow coffee had become this cool trendy thing, but just tea wasn’t. We wanted to change that stigma by building a fun community around a product that promotes mindfulness, mental clarity, focus and wellness. That’s when the idea to open up a store came about,” he said in an interview with Toolsy.

Business’ Controversy

Speaking of his business, Cha Cha Matcha’s founders, including Morton, recently received backlash following their alleged rude treatment of their employees. Richie’s rumored new boyfriend, along with Conrad Sandelman, were accused of screening job applicants based on their appearances.

Moreover, the founders reportedly refused to pay workers for the last two weeks of employment during the pandemic. Morton and Sandelman were allegedly in photos branded offensive and culturally appropriative by staffers as well, Eater reported.

“As white owners of a business that employs and serves many people of color, there is no more standing on the sidelines. As a company, we have a lot to learn,” Morton and Sandelman said in a statement.

Despite being linked to a famous personality — who has dated Justin Bieber and Disick — Morton is a relatively private person. Morton’s Instagram account is also private.
