A Texas rapper has been sentenced to 55 years in prison for a home-invasion that turned deadly.

Taymor McIntyre, also known as rapper Tay-K, had been found guilty of murder and aggravated robbery on Friday after what ended up being a short trial. This was also four days after McIntyre pleaded guilty to two charges of aggravated robbery for his role in the home invasion.

The original incident occurred in July of 2016, when a then 16-year-old McIntyre was arrested for his part in a home invasion in Mansfield, Texas. McIntyre, along with six others, planned to rob a resident in the neighborhood known to be in possession of drugs and money. The group’s original plan was to seduce the residents while the rest snuck into the house and robbed them before either resident realized what was happening.

It began as planned, with one of the women involved unlocking the door to allow the rest of the robbers in. The two residents, Ethan Walker and Zachary Beloate, were held while the crew dug through the house to find their drugs and cash.

As the robbers began leaving, Walker and Beloate tried confronting them as the group began leaving. Walker was fatally shot as the group was running out the door while Beloate was shot in the shoulder.

McIntyre was subsequently arrested and held on house arrest in 2017. However, he and one of the accomplices would cut their ankle bracelets before going on the run. While on the run, McIntyre would release a song online titled “The Race,” which would peak at No. 44 on the Billboard Hot 100.

He was subsequently captured in June 2017, by U.S. Marshals in Elizabeth, New Jersey. It was later learned after he was captured that he was involved in another two robberies, one of which resulted in the death of a photographer outside a Chick-Fil-A in San Antonio.

According to the Tarrant County Criminal District Attorney's Office, McIntyre faced 111 years in prison for the charges along with a $21,000 fine. He received 55 years for murder, 30 years for aggravated robbery, and 13 years each for the two aggravated murder charges he pleaded guilty to. He will receive a chance at parole after serving 27.5 years of the sentences.

He is also facing civil suits for the alleged robberies and murder.
