Meghan Markle’s half-brother, Thomas Markle Jr., got into a bit of legal trouble on Friday.

The 52-year-old was arrested early in the morning for driving under the influence of alcohol, according to TMZ. Oregon State Police reportedly conducted a field sobriety test, and he blew over the legal limit and was visibly intoxicated.

After Thomas was arrested Friday, he was taken to the Grants Pass Sobering Center, and his Chevy Silverado was impounded.

This news about Meghan’s half-brother arrives just days after Thomas shared his happy news about getting engaged to his girlfriend of two years, Darlene Blount, with Daily Mail. He told the outlet that the two plan to marry in March and, although he and his sister are estranged, he still plans on inviting the Duchess of Sussex and Prince Harry to the wedding.

His dad, Thomas Markle Sr., told TMZ that he “has a serious problem and he needs help,” while his sister, Samantha Markle, added that "his drinking is not related to Meghan” and that “he always drank.”

Before getting arrested for a DUI, Thomas Jr. was looking ahead to his wedding and spoke with Daily Mail about wanting to reconcile with Meghan and wanting her to reconcile with their father.

“I think our wedding will bring the family closer together,” he told the outlet. “It's hopeful that if Meghan and Harry came and my father – Meghan and Harry could spend some time together with him and that would be good.”

Everyone will just have to wait until March to see if that ends up happening.
