Who Will Play Cable In ‘Deadpool 2’ Movie Opposite Ryan Reynolds? Michael Shannon May Be Cast
With production on the highly anticipated “Deadpool 2” scheduled to begin this summer in Vancouver, Fox and Marvel are busy trying to cast an appropriate actor for the role of Deadpool’s sidekick, Cable.
Rumors doing the rounds suggest that Brad Pitt and Nathan Fillion may be in contention for the coveted role opposite Ryan Reynolds. It was also said that “Stranger Things” actor David Harbour and “Manchester By The Sea” star Kyle Chandler is also on the list. However, a recent report by The Hollywood Reporter suggests that “Nocturnal Animals” actor Michael Shannon is currently the studio’s top pick to play Cable.
The Oscar-nominated actor is being seriously considered to play the role of the mutant. In Marvel comics, Cable is from the future. In terms of personality, he is the complete opposite of Deadpool. While the wisecracking mercenary loves to break the rules, Cable is a natural leader who liked to give orders and be obeyed. The two superheroes are often seen together in the pages of several comics books. Cable is an important part of Deadpool’s story.

Cable’s love interest, Domino, has also been cast in “Deadpool 2.” “Atlanta” star Zazie Beetz will play the mutant and exceptional marksman. A teaser trailer was recently released that showed Deadpool (unsuccessfully) stopping an old man from being robbed.
Although Shannon is a top choice to play Cable, his schedule might prevent him from taking the role. He recently signed up to play a role in an indie movie named “What They Had” which will begin filming in spring. Furthermore, this isn’t the first time the actor has starred in a superhero movie. He played General Zod in “Man Of Steel.”
“Deadpool” became a surprise hit last year. It fetched $783 million internationally.
Marvel and Fox are currently finalizing the cast of “Deadpool 2.” The movie will be directed by David Leitch.
“Deadpool 2” hits theatres in 2018.
