Who Won ‘Dancing With The Stars’ 2014? Meryl Davis Wins 'DWTS' With Maksim Chmerkovskiy
Congratulations, Meryl and Maks! It was the first time the Chmerkovskiy brother won a Mirror Ball trophy on "Dancing with the Stars."
On Tuesday night’s finale of “Dancing with the Stars,” only the female contestants were left to take home the Mirror Ball: 2014 Sochi Olympic skater Meryl Davis with partner Maksim Chmerkovskiy, inspirational “fem-bot” and snowboarder Amy Purdy with partner Derek Hough, and former child star Candace Cameron Bure and partner Mark Ballas.
Though all three contestants had a huge fan base, it was Davis who was able to oust the other two ladies, with Bure being sent home first. All three competitors have become close with their partners and shared various images during their “DWTS” rehearsal pictures. All three finalists went onto Instagram before showtime Tuesday.
Some fans believe that Chmerkovskiy and the Olympic gold medalist would make a great couple. “I have so very much to be grateful for. Hard to believe this journey is coming to an end. To have shared this experience with @maksimc has been a true privilege. Thank you all for the support!” she posted on IG.
Purdy and Hough also shared a handful of IG pictures together, with the inspirational athlete typically referring to her “DWTS” partner as her friend. “Last moment in the dance studio together,” she wrote under a photo of the two hugging and looking at the DWTS sign. “This journey has been more then I could ever describe or have ever anticipated. @derekhough will forever hold a chunk of my heart. Thank you for being my partner,my wall, mentor, coach and friend. See you tomorrow, it’s not over yet! #dwts #purdyhough.”
Bure and Ballas have also bonded while on the show; sharing happy snapshots as they posed in their “DWTS” costumes. “It’s my 6am, back at practice, waiting for @markballas , I can’t believe I made the final 3 face!!! #dwts @dancingabc,” Bure wrote next to a smiling selfie.
Season 18 of “DWTS” was one of the most competitive yet, including two Olympic gold medalists. Davis’ partner at the Sochi games, Charlie White, was kicked off the season prematurely, many believed.
