Who Is Yung Mazi? Atlanta Rapper Shot In Waffle House As Suspects Escape
Police were looking for a multiple suspects in the shooting of a rapper in a restaurant in Atlanta early Tuesday morning, local media outlet News Channel 3 reported. The rapper known as Yung Mazi told authorities he walked in a Waffle House in the Buckhead neighborhood of Atlanta when multiple men began to fire guns at him.
Yung Mazi was shot in the chest but apparently managed to survive, according to CBS News. The Atlanta Journal Constitution reported that he was actually shot in the arm. There was no immediate health status for Yung Mazi following the shooting. Yung Mazi is an Atlanta-based rapper.
It was not clear if the rapper was able to provide police with a description of his assailants.
Tuesday was not the rapper's first time being shot. A video interview published in June revealed that Yung Mazi has been shot 10 times, with Tuesday presumably being the 11th. He said he "keeps getting shot" in part because "some people don't like real dudes." He also speculated he was a constant target of gunmen because "I might walk around with a quarter-million-dollars-worth of jewelry on."
Yung Mazi was shot three times shortly before Thanksgiving 2015, according to a video he posted of himself in the hospital following the shooting. "Everything good," he said on the video. "I just got shot three more times. …I done got shot 10 times."
Coincidentally, the rapper has a brand new mixtape that was released shortly before Christmas. "Free My Bruddas 2" has one song that is ominously named "Take My Life." The mixtape was not for sale and instead being offered for a free download.
This was the second time over the Christmas holiday weekend that a rapper was shot. New York City rapper Troy Ave was shot in the arm and grazed in the head while driving in Brooklyn on Christmas Day. He was listed as being in stable condition.
