Whoopi Goldberg on Polansky: not guilty of rape
Whoopi Goldberg thinks film director Roman Polanski, who was arrested in Switzerland and may be extradited to the U.S.- did not rape a 13-year old girl in the 1970's.
Goldberg said on ABC's The View that what Polanski did was something else but not rape, rape, Goldberg said. Polansky only pleaded guilty to engaging in unlawful sexual intercourse with a minor.
I just want to make sure that we are putting out the correct information, the TV Talk show anchor said on the program.
Polanski spent some time at a mental institution following the allegations. But since he believed that the judge would sentence him to years in prison, he fled to Europe where he lived for more than 30 years.
Polanski directed various films including The Pianist, Rosemary's Baby, and Chinatown.
