Why Did A$AP Rocky Diss Rita Ora? Rapper Reveals Reason Behind 'Better Days'
A$AP Rocky is finally ready to discuss the highly buzzed about Rita Ora diss on his new album, “At. Long. Last. A$AP.” The 26-year-old sat down with Sway Calloway of “Sway in the Morning” to discuss the story behind his message and why he included it in the album.
The Harlem, New York, native was anything but apologetic about calling Ora a “b---h” with “a big mouth” during his interview with Calloway. When asked what the beef between he and the British pop star was, A$AP Rocky said the song was “one of the older songs on the album,” adding that at the time it was written Ora had “caused a lot of grief.” Although he declined to go into exact details about the incident that occurred between the pair, he did tell the show’s host he “wasn’t supposed to be doing things with her” and “got in trouble.” Rather than apologize he simply told Calloway, “I said what I said.”
“It’s an old track. It was one of the joints that I recorded before Yams passed that he really loved. Now, if you asked me another question, like, maybe I should’ve muted her name?” he said. “Maybe I should’ve. But at the time, that’s how I felt.”
Although he did not directly admit it, his comments seem to support rumors that he cheated on longtime girlfriend Chanel Iman with Ora. The pair, who were engaged for nearly six months, split in October 2014. They began dating sometime in 2013, though the exact dates remain unclear as they kept their relationship largely quiet.
“At. Long. Last. A$AP” is the young rapper’s second album. According to Billboard, the album is slated to reach No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart before May 31. His premiere album, “Long. Live. A$AP,” topped the charts in 2013 selling roughly 139,000 copies in its first week.
