Kim Kardashian has finally filed for divorce from her husband, Kanye West, weeks after their split made headlines.
Kardashian filed for divorce Friday after six years of marriage. The split was "very amicable," and the "Keeping Up With the Kardashians" star is doing fine, an unnamed source told E! News.
Kardashian reportedly gave their marriage a chance before finally deciding to end things officially and legally. However, the Skims founder now just wants to move on after she had exhausted all she could do to make it work, according to the insider.
"Kim was just tired of waiting. She tried to give it a chance. She wanted to do this last year. She gave it plenty of time but it's just time to move on," the source told the outlet. "There were no affairs. No one did anything bad. They grew apart."
The source also gave some insight into the family's situation after Kardashian and West's split.
"Kim is doing OK. She's mostly worried about her privacy and kids. She's a mama bear and protective of her kids," the tipster added.
Kardashian and West are committed to co-parenting their children — North, 7, Saint, 5, Chicago, 3, and Psalm, 21 months — but all four kids have spent most of their time with Kardashian at her home in California.
Their eldest daughter, North, has some understanding of what's going on, the source added. However, they mostly see their parents apart, so the separation wasn't very surprising for them.
"Kim expressed to [the kids] that she loves their Dad but they need to be apart. They don't fully understand what's going on and are already used to the situation," a separate source added.
Kardashian is "definitely sad but she feels confident in her decision," the second insider added. "She's already felt like she's been divorced for months now. It's been a long time coming and she feels relieved to be able to finally move on.”
Meanwhile, one source told People that West is not doing well and is anxious and very sad about their split. He understands that their marriage is over and nothing can be done to make it right, per the report.
Last week, the "Gold Digger" rapper was spotted in Malibu sporting an all-white outfit. It was reported that West was still wearing his wedding band during the sighting.
