Why Didn’t Simon Cowell Tell His Son Eric About His ‘Scary’ Fall?
Simon Cowell decided to not tell his 3-year-old son, Eric, that he recently fell down the stairs.
While speaking with The Sun, the music mogul said, “He probably would have told me off, and I didn’t want to worry him. He’s only three.” After recovering from his fall, Cowell managed to return to the second week of live shows for “X-Factor” UK, and his son accompanied him during rehearsals.
Cowell was brought to the NHS after the incident. While there, he was tended by the staff, doctors and nurses who he dubbed as “genuine.” “Fortunately, it was all fine.” The One Direction manager did not also have any broken bones, which made his recovery very quick.
A week before returning to the singing reality TV competition, Cowell spoke with the same publication to detail what exactly happened the day of his accident. “I’d gone to get some hot milk because I felt ropey. On the way back upstairs, I just remember feeling dizzy. Next thing I know someone was putting a neck brace on me and I had a terrible headache, which must have been from hitting the stairs. I was worried at first that I’d done some real damage,” he said.
Following the incident, Cowell realized that he’s not invincible and should better care for himself. “They think I fainted because I had low blood pressure and so I have got to really take good care of myself to sort that out. After all I am a dad and have more responsibility than ever,” he added.
In September, Cowell also revealed that he and his son have very similar tastes. And one of their favorites is “America’s Got Talent.” “Either we like the same thing or we don’t like the same thing. But he loves the show, he really does,” he told US Weekly.
The doting dad is also very pleased with how bonded he is with his only child, who he shares with his long-time partner, Lauren Silverman. “About a year and a half, suddenly, you get this connection. And they start talking to you. And you can teach them things. It’s an amazing feeling,” he said.
