Why Ed Sheeran Plans To Retire After Having Kids With Cherry Seaborn

Ed Sheeran may stop focusing on his music career as soon as he and soon-to-be wife Cherry Seaborn expand their family.

After announcing his engagement with Seaborn on Saturday, Sheeran opened up about his future plans, which apparently include starting a family and retiring from making music and touring. He told Daily Star that his priorities will likely change once he and Seaborn welcome their first child as he would put their kid first before his music career.

“My ambition is going to go to zero as soon as I have kids. ‘I am going to be like, ‘I do not really care anymore as I have another life to take care of,’” he said. “It is totally understandable because you have children and your ambition shifts to be like, ‘want to be a good father.’”

But while he may be planning to retire early in the future, Sheeran is still busy with his “Divide” tour. He is also reportedly currently working on his fourth album, which is rumored to be his last. However, Sheeran has also hinted that he may choose the opposite path from his “End Game” collaborator and close friend Taylor Swift by churning out a country hit after his massive pop success. Part of the reason why he is planning to try his hand at a completely different music genre is because he has almost run out of goals to pursue.

“To be honest my ambition is dwindling a little bit because I have achieved far more than I thought I ever would,” the singer explained. “I do not know what to do next. I feel like when you play a stadium, you cannot play any bigger than that because what do you do? Sell 15 million albums? What do you do on your next album?”

“My ambition next is a silly small ambition to write a country music song that goes to number one on country radio in America,” Sheeran explained. “I know that is not like playing Wembley Stadium, but for me that is the next thing.”

Meanwhile, this new interview comes after Sheeran announced that he is engaged to Seaborn on Instagram over the weekend. He shared a sweet photo of himself embracing and kissing his fiancee and revealed in the caption that they got engaged before ringing in the new year.

Sheeran and Seaborn have apparently known each other for a long time. The two became close friends while in school, and it was rumored that Sheeran had a crush on Seaborn at the time but she was dating someone else. However, the lovebirds later got together in 2015, according to Daily Mail.
