Why ‘The Flash’ Star Candice Patton Thinks Iris West Would Fit Well Into ‘Supergirl’?
Despite being one of the major players in The CW’s DC TV universe, “The Flash” actress Candice Patton has yet to appear on any other DC Comics TV shows airing on the network. While she would probably be happy to appear as Iris West on “Arrow” and “Legends of Tomorrow,” Patton revealed that she would choose “Supergirl” in a heartbeat if given the chance to choose which of the three shows she would like Iris to cross over to.
“I think it would be cool to see Iris kind of venture over into the ‘Supergirl’ world,” Patton told Den of Geek. “I don’t know how that would work. I don’t know how, logistically, we could make that happen. But I think if there is any show that would be right for Iris, I think it would be over there.”
When asked if she sees Iris fitting into the newsroom dynamic that “Supergirl” has, the 28-year-old actress replied, “Exactly.”
This isn’t the first time Patton has expressed her interest in crossing over to “Supergirl.” Even when “Supergirl” was still on CBS, Patton told IGN that she would like to see her journalist character have a scene with Calista Flockhart’s media mogul Cat Grant.
“I think it would be cool to go to ‘Supergirl’ and interact with Calista Flockhart and her character,” she told the website in January. “I don’t know how that would work, but that would be cool.”
“It actually does make the most sense,” continued Patton. “I don’t know if there’s any intention to crossing ‘Supergirl’ over to any of the CW shows, but never say never. That’s the thing about [Greg] Berlanti and [Andrew] Kreisberg, right? Anything's possible. I’m all for crossing over, and I feel like I’m the only one who has yet to cross.”
For this upcoming TV season, there are already two confirmed crossover events in The CW’s DC TV universe. The first one is the “The Flash”/”Supergirl” musical, and the other is the four-show crossover. Executive producer Greg Berlanti recently gave an update on both crossover events in a lengthy interview with Indie Wire. Click here to read the full story.
