Why Is ‘General Hospital’ Showing Reruns? ABC’s Broadcast Of Recent Episodes Excites Fans
Following reports that “General Hospital” is expected to resume production during the week of July 20, fans were relieved to learn that the cast will be returning to the set to begin filming new episodes.
However, on Monday, ABC ended its “Best of” series, which would dedicate a week to the best moments from a family or a couple, and began airing reruns from April 28, 2020. Due to the coronavirus pandemic, “GH” shut down production in March and ran out of new episodes toward the end of May.
Daytime Confidential reported that the airing of those episodes should last into late July. The site went on to suggest that the encores of the most recent episodes could align with the return of new ones.
According to the television listings on TV Guide, a new episode of “General Hospital” is scheduled to air on July 27.
When viewers last saw the residents of Port Charles, their lives were on the verge of following apart. Michael (Chad Duell) was confident that his marriage to Willow (Katelyn MacMullen) would guarantee that the court would award them full custody of Wiley (Erik and Theo Olson).
However, Nelle (Chloe Lanier) took the stand at the custody trial and was ready to do what she does best: lie. She was also depending on Nina (Cynthia Watros) to be her character witness and give her the upper hand over Michael.
Although ABC has not made an official announcement regarding the return of new episodes, the network has continued to give viewers their daily “GH” fix by broadcasting classic episodes.
“General Hospital” airs weekdays at 3 p.m. EDT on ABC.
