“Chicago P.D.” Season 5, episode 6 will not air Wednesday, Nov. 1. NBC delayed their Wednesday night lineup of crime fighting shows, which also includes “Law & Order: Special Victims Unit.”

The last minute decision to delay tonight’s new episodes was made in light of the World Series. The baseball game between the Dodgers and the Astros is not airing on NBC, home of “Chicago P.D.” and “SVU.” However, it seems the peacock network didn’t want to compete with Fox for ratings.

It’s fair to say that many shows will suffer if they air against the 2017 World Series. Game 6 pulled in 18.9 million viewers and scored a 5.2 rating in the coveted 18-49 age range, according to Variety. Game 7 is expected to pull in just as many audience members, if not more.

“Chicago P.D.” is not new tonight. Season 5, episode 6 will air Nov. 8. NBC

Instead of new episodes, reruns of the September season premieres will air at 9 p.m. and 10 p.m. EDT. However, their lead-in, “The Blacklist,” will air a new episode. It seems NBC is confident that viewers will be willing to miss the first hour of the game to watch the FBI drama. “The Blacklist” Season 5, episode 6 will air at 8 p.m. EDT.

New episodes of “Chicago P.D.” will return next week with Season 5, episode 6, which will be titled “Fallen.” The Nov. 8 episode will follow the murder of a happy family. Upton (Tracy Spiridakos) has to work with someone she doesn’t like, Vice Sergeant Sean McGrady (guest star Wil Traval), to find the drug dealer connected to the killing. He won’t be around for long though. When McGrady suddenly dies, the case gets even more interesting.

“Law & Order: SVU” will also air a new installment on Nov. 8, titled “Unintended Consequences.” The episode follows Rollins (Kelli Giddish) as she goes undercover at a luxurious rehabilitation center to investigate the death of a teenage patient. Elsewhere, Benson (Mariska Hargitay) attempts to accept Sheila (guest star Brooke Shields).

“Chicago P.D.” airs Wednesdays at 10 p.m. EDT on NBC. “Law & Order: SVU” airs Wednesdays at 9 p.m. EDT on NBC.
