When viewers tune in to watch to watch the ball drop during 2019's "Dick Clark's New Year's Rockin' Eve," a familiar face will be missing. Host Ryan Seacrest is set to return to his hosting role, but Jenny McCarthy has revealed that she has decided to take the year off and ring in 2020 in a different way. Why did she make that choice and what will she be doing instead?

According to the Daily Mail, McCarthy is taking the year off in order to spend time with her husband, New Kids on the Block member Donnie Wahlberg, and their extended family. This will mark the first time in 10 years that the former host of "The View" will be missing from the ABC broadcast.

Earlier this month, Wahlberg spoke to Closer Weekly and discussed his wife's decision.

Calling the choice "amazing," the "Blue Bloods" actor shared that it's a positive change to be able to spend time together and "not have to think, 'We have to leave tomorrow for Times Square for New Year's Eve.'"

However, fans will be pleased to hear that she hasn't ruled out future appearances, as revealed by her husband. "If she wants to do it again next year, I'll have to perform again," he joked, referencing the two times his band took the stage while McCarthy hosted.

Aside from her hosting duties that she once shared with Ryan Seacrest each New Year's Eve, McCarthy has also been busy this year with her SiriusXM radio show, "The Jenny McCarthy Show," which airs weekdays at 10 a.m. EST on SiriusXM channel 109.

Additionally, she serves as one of the four judges on Fox's competition, "The Masked Singer." There, she sits alongside Pussycat Dolls member Nicole Scherzinger, "Blurred Lines" singer Robin Thicke, and "Hangover" star Ken Jeong. Nick Cannon also serves as a host of the popular reality show that just crowned a new winner when Season 2 recently wrapped.
