Kaley Cuoco got candid about the future of "The Flight Attendant."
Days after the Season 2 finale aired, the actress, who stars in and executive produces the acclaimed HBO Max dramedy, revealed that she currently isn't on board for another season of "The Flight Attendant."
"Now, I'm like, 'Well, we did two. We should probably be done.' And I think I've been outnumbered with that thought," Cuoco told People while promoting Smirnoff's "How to Summer: Grown-Up Edition" campaign. "There's definitely interest in doing a third season. I think for me, at this moment, the plane has landed."
Although she's not interested in doing a third season at the moment, she isn't closing the door on it. Cuoco said she "could possibly get back in it," though likely not any time soon.
"I think I need a minute. I just kind of feel like we just ended," she explained. "Some of my favorite shows on TV take some time to come back, and then I get very excited about a new season. I want to make sure that the fans are excited and that we're not pushing it too hard."
For Cuoco, they have already "done so much this season" and included "so much story" in the eight episodes. The actress added that she believes it would take a "lot of thought" to make a better season than the first two runs, which she said was "very hard to do."
But if she does decide to move forward with a third season, Cuoco said she would want it to focus more on her character Cassie Bowden's sobriety journey.
"That is what her life is truly about and those are her struggles, but I don't know. I think it's going to take us a minute to figure out what that would look like," she told the outlet. "And also, because our show is international, where would we go? It's all about the travel on this show, which makes it so special."
Discussing the second season's finale, Cuoco said the "the best part" about the ending was that the series "could definitely be done or it's definitely open to continuing." She praised the writers and the team for doing "a beautiful job" by creating an ending that leaves them with multiple options.
Based on Chris Bohjalian's 2018 novel of the same name, "The Flight Attendant" follows alcoholic flight attendant Cassie as she wakes up with a hangover and finds herself linked to the death of one of her passengers.
"The Flight Attendant" is now streaming in full on HBO Max.
