Why Kate Middleton Is Being Compared To This ‘Harry Potter’ Character
Kate Middleton is being compared to a “Harry Potter” character, and it’s all due to her outfit choice. The Duchess of Cambridge’s blue coat dress is being compared to a Beauxbatons uniform.
On Thursday, Kate visited the Braid Arts Centre in Ballymena, Northern Ireland wearing a blue Mulberry coat dress. The mother-of-three is a fan of the designer label, but she usually doesn’t look like she just stepped out of the Wizarding World when she wears their clothes.
It’s easy to see why fans are making the comparison, though. The blue matches the same shade worn by the French schoolgirls in “Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire,” and the little cape makes it look like she could be a stand-in for Fleur Delacour actress Clémence Poésy. She was wearing a dark blue dress under the coat along with a Jimmy Choo clutch and Robert Sanderson pumps.
Fans were quick to make the “Harry Potter” connection.
Kate hasn’t been to Beauxbatons, but she has been to Hogwarts — or at least as close as muggle can get. In 2013, Prince William, Prince Harry and Kate went to "The Warner Bros Studio Tour London – The Making Of Harry Potter” where they were able to meet with J.K. Rowling. According to BuzzFeed, Kate said that she’d read all the books and seen all the movies.
The Duchess of Cambridge was not, however, learning about witchcraft and wizardry during her trip to Northern Ireland. Instead, Kensington Palace says she and husband Prince William were on a two-day trip “celebrating the young people of Northern Ireland.”
They visited the Irish Football Association to learn about their program encouraging young girls to play soccer as well as their program that deals with mental health issues. They met with charities like Extern, which helps children facing hardships, and Cinemagic, which helps kids develop skills in visual arts like film, television and digital technologies. They also met with local police officers.
