Kate Middleton is now considered to be rich because she has married into the royal family. As such, whatever Prince William owns is shared with her and their three children.

On the online forum site Quora, royal fans engaged in a discussion on whether or not the Duchess of Cambridge is rich. Majority of them said that she cannot be considered wealthy because she doesn’t have her own money.

Catherine Murphy, a royal fan who has a Master of Science Degree, said that the mom of three is not rich because she has never worked. As such, she doesn’t have personal money before she married the Duke of Cambridge.

Heather Clarke, who has a degree in nursing, said that Middleton isn’t the one who is rich. But she managed to live a comfortable life growing up because her parents, Michael and Carole Middleton, were well-off.

“That is their money and they are both still alive. Her husband has assets that he inherited before his marriage I believe so that’s his money… When she becomes Queen Consort, she will have access to the wealth of the British Royal family but it’s not hers… She can’t divorce William and take half the crown jewels with her for example,” she said.

Margaret Boerner, a Ph.D. holder, said that unlike Meghan Markle, Middleton isn’t rich in her own right. But the Middletons became rich because of their once successful business.

Gregg Gray, who worked in the White House for six years, said that Middleton isn’t as rich as she will soon become.

“Her husband, of course, will inherit from Prince Charles and already has £18 million from Princess Diana. There will probably be more money when/if they become the Prince and Princess of Wales. Of course, the astronomical motherload will be when he becomes King and she Queen,” he said.
