Why Kate Middleton’s Motives For Marrying Prince William Were Questioned Like Meghan's
Kate Middleton’s motives for marrying Prince William were once questioned by critics.
On the online forum site Quora, some royal fans discussed why Meghan Markle is receiving tons of flak for marrying Prince Harry. And the netizens also said that Middleton received similar treatment after she got engaged to the future king.
Kimberly Klaus, a development coach, said that Middleton was dubbed “Waity Katie” just like Markle was dubbed “Difficult Duchess” today. The mom of three was believed to be a scheming commoner who conspired with her mother to rope the royal stallion into her corral.
“Then she was harassed for being pregnant too often/not enough, taking too much maternity leave, not performing enough royal duties, accused of spending too much on clothes, etc. She is still criticized for those things, except now Meghan Fan Club is painting Catherine as a vanilla cardboard cutout with a vapid smile and no real brains who can’t hold a candle to the brilliant Northwestern graduate who really does care about charity and who married the son of Diana,” she said.
Linda Culp, a resident of the United States, said that both Middleton and Markle’s motives for marrying the princes were questioned by the public. Culp also said that she couldn’t believe that the people questioning the female royals’ motives don’t think that Prince William and Prince Harry are lovable people simply for who they are, regardless of their royal status.
Eileen Wood, a real estate assistant, also said that the criticisms extended to Middleton’s family. They were raked over the coals before, during, and after the royal wedding.
“They were accused of manipulating events so Catherine was constantly in William’s line of sight. They were accused of marrying their daughter off to royalty because they wanted prestige and status to go with their self-earned wealth… Catherine herself has been (and sometimes still is) accused of manipulating William into marrying her,” she said.
