KEY POINTS

  • Konami will no longer be a part of this year's E3
  • The company will still be supporting the event and the ESA
  • Information regarding Konami's big projects will be revealed in the coming months

Konami has officially announced that it will be pulling out of the upcoming online E3 2021 conference due to conflicts with their internal timing. The company was among the first ones to sign up for this year’s E3 convention.

An announcement was released through Konami’s Twitter account. The Japanese company said it is not ready to show any of its big projects at E3 this year, which suggests it was not able to get its keystone projects at a presentable state.

However, Konami did assure fans that the company will release more information regarding the development of its key projects in the coming months.

Konami has been quiet about its projects over the past year. Rumors of a new “Silent Hill” game have been floating around for quite some time now, and fans have been hoping to hear some sort of official word about the rumored reboot. There hasn’t been any news about the future of the franchise apart from a few insider leaks.

The “Metal Gear” franchise is allegedly getting a next-gen remake as well, according to online leaks. Several games in the series were reportedly getting remade for modern consoles, according to leaker KatharsisT, but they provided no evidence of these claims.

The 2021 E3 conference was supposed to be Konami’s chance to shed some light on these rumors. Unfortunately, fans will have to wait a few more months before any official news is revealed. This delay does imply that Konami is working on big projects, so fans do have some very exciting things to look forward to.

Many fans of “Silent Hill” and “Metal Gear” have been disappointed with how Konami has handled these franchises in the past. The extremely underwhelming “Metal Gear Survive” game and the canceled “Silent Hills” project have caused many to lose faith in the company, including renowned “Metal Gear” creator Hideo Kojima, who parted ways with Konami to make his own studio.

It is currently unknown whether Konami’s place in the E3 roster will be replaced or not, but there is a good chance that it will since the current list of participants is not yet final.
