Why Is ‘Lucifer’ Season 2 Not Airing Tonight? Lucifer Morningstar Pokes Fun At Presidential Debate
“Lucifer” Season 2 didn’t air a new episode on Monday night to accommodate the Presidential Debates that aired for one and a half hours on ABC, CBS, FOX and NBC.
But even though fans missed seeing Lucifer Morningstar (Tom Ellis) during the show’s 9 p.m. timeslot, they had the chance to see the character poke fun at the debates. On the show’s official Twitter account, a photo of Lucifer was posted alongside the caption, “These candidates can debate all they want, but they’ll never possess power like mine.” The handlers of the account also joked about Lucifer becoming the president of the United States in 2020.
Meanwhile, “Lucifer” Season 2 will return to CBS next Monday night with the episode “Liar, Liar, Slutty Dress on Fire.” In the episode, Lucifer will suspect his mom Charlotte (Tricia Helfer) of being involved in a ghastly murder, and he and Chloe (Lauren German) will investigate the case. Charlotte will try to plead her innocence, but the lead character has a hard time believing her. As a result, Lucifer asks Maze (Lesley Ann-Brandt) to watch over Charlotte and track her whereabouts, according to FOX.
In the teaser for “Liar, Liar, Slutty Dress on Fire,” Lucifer confronts his mom about her involvement in the murder. “I still cannot believe your wounded bird story…” he says. “I promise you I’m not here to hurt anyone,” Charlotte replies.
In one of the scenes, Lucifer starts praying to Amenadiel (D.B. Woodside) so he would take Charlotte back to hell. When Charlotte realizes what her son was doing, she urges him to stop by slapping his hands, according to Spoilers Guide.
“Lucifer” Season 2, episode 2 will air on CBS on Oct. 3 at 9 p.m. ET.
