Meghan Markle didn’t carry her son, Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor, during their first outing as a family on Wednesday.

Royal expert Melanie Bromley said that there could only be one simple reason why Markle didn’t follow in Kate Middleton’s footsteps in this regard. When the Duchess of Cambridge gave birth to her children, she was the one that carried her newborn kids and not Prince William.

While speaking with Access, Bromley said that the only reason Markle didn’t hold her baby in public is that she was in heels and she just gave birth two days earlier.

“Things are different with Meghan and Harry, they do not have to follow the rules. Now, look, there are no rules that say that Kate has to carry her children either… It’s just what Kate and William have decided to do,” she said.

The royal expert went on to say that Duke and Duchess of Sussex are good at reminding everyone that the royal family can be like a fairytale and the public can look at them from afar.

“We can theorize about them and what goes on really behind palace doors. But at the end of the day, this is a normal family and this is a young family with their first baby… They are about to celebrate their first wedding as well as… They are ordinary people so there is no real reason why Harry chose to carry the baby except it was nice and he felt like it,” she said.

Markle gave birth to her son on May 6 at 5:26 a.m. It is believed that the Duchess of Sussex gave birth at the Portland Hospital in London. A statement from the palace confirmed that Prince Harry was present during the birth of her son.

Shortly after giving birth, Markle was transported to Frogmore Cottage, where she reunited with her mom, Doria Ragland. The yoga instructor is staying with Markle and Prince Harry in their home in the United Kingdom.
