Meghan Markle was previously criticized for redesigning the engagement ring that Prince Harry gave to her two years ago.

And to make things worse, royal fans because visibly upset with the Duchess of Sussex because they knew that some parts of the engagement ring came from Princess Diana’s personal jewelry collection.

But it has now been revealed that Markle wasn’t the first or the only member of the royal family to ever have her engagement ring tweaked. In fact, the Princess of Wales also did the same thing several years ago.

According to The Sun, the late royal had her engagement ring redesigned shortly after it was given to her by Prince Charles. The future King proposed to Princess Diana during a private dinner at the Buckingham Palace.

The original design of the engagement ring featured 14 solitaire diamonds and eight prongs. Two prongs are placed on each corner of the ring. But two years after the couple’s engagement, Princess Diana had six more prongs added to her engagement ring.

Princess Diana’s beautiful engagement ring now belongs to Prince William’s wife, Kate Middleton. But prior to the couple’s engagement, Princess Diana’s engagement ring actually belonged to Prince Harry.

The Duke of Sussex decided to give the ring to his older brother since he was the one who got married first. Additionally, Prince Harry also wanted to make sure that Princess Diana would be a part of Prince William and Middleton’s relationship.

In the Amazon Prime documentary “The Diana Story,” Princess Diana’s former royal butler, Paul Burrell, said that Prince Harry’s selfless act showed how similar the Duke of Sussex is to his late mother.

“Then one day that ring will be sat on the throne. Harry gave up his precious treasure… The one thing he kept from his mother, he gave to his brother…That’s selfless, kind and exactly who Diana was,” Burrell said.
