Why Porsha Williams Was Almost Fired From ‘Real Housewives Of Atlanta’

Although Porsha Williams has become a beloved cast member on “The Real Housewives of Atlanta,” the 38-year-old was almost fired following Season 1 of the Bravo series.

Fans are aware that Porsha is currently working on her relationship with her fiancé Dennis McKinley. The couple briefly split in 2019 when Porsha learned he cheated on her while she was pregnant with their daughter Pilar Jhena.

However, before Porsha was in a relationship with McKinely, she was married to former football player Kordell Stewart. During a recent appearance on “The Jenny McCarthy Show,” Andy Cohen revealed Porsha’s marriage saved her from being fired from the “RHOA” cast.

“At the end of Porsha’s first season, Porsha was at the reunion, and it had been announced about a day before that Kordell was leaving her, and there was a dialogue amongst the producers about whether Porsha was even going to come back or not at that time. This was at the end of her first season,” Cohen explained.

However, the “Watch What Happens Live” host insisted that Porsha proved she was a valuable cast member and earned her spot on the reality series.

“She got up there at the reunion, and I was watching, and I was like, ‘oh my God,’ I left and was like, ‘I stand for Porsha, that was incredible,’ and she cemented her place on the show,” he said.

While some viewers may believe that their favorite “Real Housewives of Atlanta” star will always be on the cast, Cohen revealed that no one has a guaranteed spot on the show.

“It’s interesting how things change through the season. Even you could be saying, ‘oh well I don’t think this person’s coming back,’ and then something could happen at the reunion where it changes.” Cohen told McCarthy.

“She gave like a two-minute soliloquy about who she truly was, and how she was going to live her life going forward, and this was not going to define her, and she is stronger than this, and I was like, ‘oh my god.’ I totally underestimated this woman, and look at where she’s now on the show.”
