Prince Charles recently celebrated his 50th anniversary as the Prince of Wales. But unlike his other milestones, the future king opted for a quiet celebration.

Now, the reason for the no-fuss affair has been revealed by royal expert Camilla Tominey. While speaking with 9News Australia, Tominey said that it’s been amazing how Prince Charles’ role as the Prince of Wales has been in effect for the past half-century.

The royal expert said that it’s possible Prince Charles felt that there were too many celebrations to mark his 70th birthday last year that’s why he wanted to change things up a bit.

“You probably remember the footage of him as a very young man at Carnarvon Castle in Wales. With all of the regalia on and with his mother promising to be her liege man of life and limb… Actually spending it very quietly went to Wales and did some engagements there… We didn’t think he was going to do any interviews or anything like that,” she said.

Prince Charles spent a couple of days in Wales, which he regularly does every Summer for Wales Week. But it just so happened that he is also celebrating his 50th year as the Prince of Wales. The future King was first granted the important title when he was just 9 years old.

However, it was only 11 years later that Queen Elizabeth II held a ceremony to officially introduce her eldest son to the world as the Prince of Wales. During the ceremony, Prince Charles was adorned with ceremonial robes and a coronet.

Other than his recent anniversary, Prince Charles is also gearing up to become the next King. He is reportedly preparing for the important role with the help of his wife, Camilla Parker Bowles.

According to Daily Star, Prince Charles has been attending meetings of the Duchy of Lancaster at the Clarence House with the Duchess of Cornwall.
