Why Prince Harry May Move Down The Line Of Succession Soon
Prince Harry will most likely move down the line of succession very soon.
According to Coral spokesperson John Hill, the latest odds that Kate Middleton and Prince William will announce that they are expecting their fourth child is at 2-1. Once Prince William and Middleton have another baby, the Duke of Sussex will move from sixth to seventh in the line of succession.
“This latest gamble could suggest that Kate and William are set to extend their family in the near future as punters have been rushing in to back the couple to announce they are expecting their fourth child at some point in 2019,” Hill told Express.
The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge’s fourth child will immediately follow Prince Louis in the order of succession even though he or she is much younger than Prince Harry. This is because of the Succession to the Crown Act of 2013. The agreement ended male-preference primogeniture for those who are born after October 2011.
Prior to the Succession to the Crown Act of 2013, the royal rule favored male royals. This means that male children will always come first before their sisters in the order of succession. For instance, Princess Charlotte would come after Prince Louis even though she’s younger for the simple reason that Prince Louis is a boy and she’s a girl.
The Succession to the Crown Act also paved the way for royals to marry Roman Catholics. And royals who are beyond the first six in the line of succession no longer need to ask Queen Elizabeth’s permission to wed whoever they want.
Meanwhile, there are also some rumors suggesting that Prince William and Middleton may not have another child anytime soon. A parenting expert claimed that the way Middleton has been interacting with Prince Louis suggests that she wants to baby her youngest son for as long as possible. This is an indication that Prince Louis could be her last child and she wants to enjoy every minute with him.
