Prince Harry may be enjoying his new life with Meghan Markle and their son, Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor, in California, but it doesn’t mean he will be calling himself a US citizen anytime soon.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex were reportedly living in a mansion on Vancouver Island in Canada. However, the couple relocated to a permanent residence in California before the country closed its borders due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Although Meghan and Prince Harry made it to the US, they are following the safety guidelines that have been set in place and are on lockdown amid the global health crisis. While the couple settles into their new home, an insider told E! News that their plans won’t include obtaining a green card for the 35-year-old.

“Harry is not applying for a Green Card or dual citizenship anytime soon, which will come as a surprise to many because that is what most people assumed he’d do on moving to the US,” the insider revealed.

The news comes after the Sunday Times published a report claiming that the Duke of Sussex would have to renounce his titles and undergo invasive screening processes to become a US citizen. The publication shared its theories after it revealed it was unclear how the royal entered the country.

Prince Harry could have entered the United States under an O-1 visa for “individuals with extraordinary ability or achievement,” or he could have opted for a 90-day visa waiver program or other types of special visas.

After officially stepping away from their senior royal duties on March 31, Meghan and Prince Harry were expected to launch their new image in the US. However, their debut has been put on hold due to the global health crisis.
