Why Prince William Represents The Crown On Behalf Of Queen Elizabeth II
Prince William has been representing Queen Elizabeth II and her crown for multiple occasions.
The future king recently traveled to New Zealand for a two-day engagement in support of the victims of the Christchurch shooting. Queen Elizabeth II, who is already 93 years old, has been delegating her overseas tours to some members of the royal family.
Robert Hardman, the author of “Queen of the World,” recently explained why this is so. Other than her age, the Queen also knows that as the monarch, she can’t do everything and be everywhere at the same time. As such, she has asked the members of the British clan to stand in for her.
Even though the Queen has been passing on some of his royal duties to her family members, she still has not resigned from her royal duties. During her coronation in 1953, Her Majesty said that she will dedicate her entire life to the crown and her people.
Meanwhile, the Queen’s husband, Prince Philip. has already retired from public duties two years ago. The Duke of Edinburgh is 97 years old, and he has been enjoying his retirement in Windsor Castle.
Every now and then, Prince Philip makes public appearances with his loved ones. He was last seen attending Princess Eugenie and Jack Brooksbank’s royal wedding on Oct. 12, 2018, at St. George’s Chapel in Windsor Castle.
Prince Philip also made sure to attend Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s royal wedding on May 19, 2018, at the same venue.
Other than his public outings with the royal family, Prince Philip also steps out of Windsor Castle by himself. Earlier this year, he was involved in a car accident after his Land Rover crashed into a Kia outside the Sandringham estate.
Following the incident, Prince Philip agreed to have his license revoked. But the retired royal still gets to drive around in his car on private roads and properties.
