Why Princess Beatrice, Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi Have Not Set Wedding Date
She announced plans to marry her beau Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi in September, but since then, no news has been revealed in regards to Princess Beatrice’s marriage plans. Now, following the fallout from her father, Prince Andrew’s, scandalous interview, some are wondering if that has led to her potentially postponing her nuptials.
According to Express UK, some are questioning if Prince Andrew’s interview about his friendship with Jeffrey Epstein—which led to his subsequent removal from public royal life—may be the reason why no new reports have surfaced in regards to his older daughter’s wedding. However, the reason no date has been announced could simply come down to royal protocol.
According to the website, Queen Elizabeth is always the first who is informed of proposed wedding dates and must give her approval before a public announcement can be made. While it has been a while in terms of royal weddings/proposals for a date to be announced for Beatrice, she could simply be waiting to make an announcement because of the Queen. If dates were proposed, she could be waiting to approve them until after the December UK elections.
However, while it may seem like Princess Beatrice is on a delay when it comes to announcing a wedding date, that doesn’t mean she really is. Though Prince Harry and Meghan Markle married within six months of announcing their engagement, her sister, Princess Eugenie, wed Jack Brooksbank nine months after their own announcement. In addition, it’s been reported that since she is much further down the line of succession, Beatrice not only didn’t require the Queen’s permission to marry but also isn’t required to have the same pomp and circumstance with her wedding that her cousins did. As a result, she is more keen on a low-key affair.
“Beatrice has said she and Edo are looking at alternative venues because she wants something different. The wedding will not be in Italy and from what they are saying it won’t be in St. George’s Chapel, Windsor, either,” sources said. “There have been three big Royal weddings there in the past year or so and I’m not sure that’s what Bea wants. Edo has a child, there’s the situation with his ex, and Beatrice might just feel something more low-key might be more fitting.”
