Why Princess Diana Jumped Into Pool In Her Dressing Gown Years Ago
Princess Diana was forced to jump into the pool in her dressing gown years ago due to her eldest son Prince William.
Lucy Devine, a journalist for The Sun, revealed that even though it was Prince Harry that inherited his mom’s traits, it is Prince William that got his late mom’s mischievous side.
Andrew Morton, a royal biographer, revealed that when Prince William was still young, he pretended to be drowning in an open-air swimming pool. When the Princess of Wales saw him, she jumped into the pool to try and save him.
“Diana had just finished a swim in the open-air pool and had changed into a white toweling dressing gown as she waited for William to follow her. Instead, he splashed about as though he were drowning and slowly sank to the bottom. His mother, not knowing whether it was fake or not, struggled to get out of her robe. Then, realizing the urgency, she dived in, still in her dressing gown,” Morton wrote in “Diana: Her True Story.”
“At that moment, he resurfaced, shouting and laughing at the success of his ruse. Diana was not amused,” he added.
But Paul Burrell, Princess Diana’s former butler, revealed in “Princess Diana: The Quiet Revolution,” that it was Prince Harry that had a naughtier side.
“Harry is a hybrid of Spencer’s red hair and the Windsors but he has his mother’s naughty streak. Harry is the fun guy, Harry was always the boy that would take apart the television set, the video recorder, he would have in bits, and would want them to put it back together. Harry was always the soldier, William was always the general,” he said (via Express).
On the other hand, Burrell described the Duke of Cambridge as studious, careful, respectful and duty bound. He also said that even though Prince William looks more like Princess Diana, his personality is more similar to his dad Prince Charles.
