Why Princess Diana Made A ‘Top-Secret Deal’ With Donald Trump After Divorce
Princess Diana reportedly made a top-secret deal with US President Donald Trump shortly after she divorced from Prince Charles.
In an unearthed report from 1992, Daily Express revealed that the mom of two wanted to purchase a unit at the Trump Tower in New York City. Palace insiders were reportedly not on board with Princess Diana’s plans.
“The Princess was said to have negotiated a deal with businessman Donald Trump for an apartment in the 68-story Trump Tower on Manhattan 5th Avenue – a monument to privilege and the ultimate symbol of the American dream. There she would rub shoulders with some of the wealthiest and most powerful people in the world,” the report read.
According to the publication, Trump personally took care of the deal to ensure that it would be kept a secret from the public. But CNN reported this year that it was most likely Trump who came up with the outlandish story, which wasn’t true after all.
“Understanding celebrity culture, Trump made outlandish claims about the beautiful women who pursued him and the celebrities who wanted to buy whatever he sold,” Michael d’Antonio said.
"These tidbits were generally throw-away entertainments but could when picked-up by the wire services or more legitimate press, become real reports printed around the world under the banner of a credible source like the Associated Press,” he added.
But during a previous interview, Trump hinted on the possibility of Princess Diana actually purchasing a unit at the Trump Tower. He said that a very aristocratic guy with an English accent handled all of the royals’ estate transactions.
At present, Buckingham Palace still refuses to comment on the matter. But until the day that she died, Princess Diana was never photographed at the Trump Tower. And after her separation from Prince Charles in 1992, the mom of two continued to live in London.
More specifically, Princess Diana continued to stay in Kensington Palace until her death. The property now belongs to Prince William and Kate Middleton.
