Why Princess Diana Once Confessed To Being ‘Jealous’ Of Sarah Ferguson
Princess Diana once indirectly confessed that she was jealous of Sarah Ferguson.
Even though the two female royals used to be very close, they had a falling out when Ferguson started to impress the other members of the royal family.
Prince Andrew’s wife impressed Queen Elizabeth II by getting her pilot’s license. The Duchess of York also won over the heart of Prince Philip when she took up open carriage driving, which was one of the things the Duke of Edinburgh was passionate about.
Ferguson also excelled at the other sports that the other members of the royal family were also good at. But Princess Diana wasn’t good at the same things. During her interview with Andrew Morton years ago, Princess Diana said that Ferguson wooed everybody in the royal family, and she did it well.
However, because everyone’s attention was on Ferguson, the Princess of Wales felt that she was left behind looking like dirt.
Despite Princess Diana’s feelings of jealousy towards Ferguson, the two still remained best friends. They also relied on each other during the fall out of their respective marriages.
In the memoir, Ferguson detailed what it was like for her and Princess Diana before they separated from Prince Andrew and Prince Charles, respectively.
“It was the year we first put words to the unspeakable idea that had been nudging us in the ribs for some time: the one or both of us might leave the royal family. We burned the phone wires into the night, trading secrets and jokes that no one else would understand,” Ferguson wrote.
But one year before Princess Diana’s death, Ferguson confirmed that the two of them have stopped talking. Ferguson initially said that she didn’t know why Princess Diana refused to talk to her, but it is believed that the late royal didn’t like how the mom of two talked about her in her memoir.
During an interview with Harper’s Bazaar, Ferguson said that because she and Princess Diana were like sisters, it wasn’t surprising that they would get into fights.
