Why Princess Diana’s Death Cannot Be Blamed On Paparazzi: ‘They Weren’t There’
Princess Diana passed away 22 years ago, but her sudden demise is still surrounded by a slew of questions.
During a previous interview, the firefighter who arrived at the scene of the incident revealed that the final words Princess Diana said to him. Xavier Gourmelon also suggested to ITV’s “Good Morning Britain” that the paparazzi couldn’t possibly be blamed for the Princess of Wales’ tragic accident.
At first glance, Gourmelon immediately saw a blonde person sitting on the floor. He had no idea that it was Princess Diana, and he also didn’t know that it was a woman. Shortly after realizing who it was, the firefighter revealed that Princess Diana regained consciousness and asked what just happened.
“We took her out of a car, put her on a stretcher. At that moment the doctor said she was in cardiac arrest so we gave her CPR, and after 20 seconds she regained consciousness,” he said.
When asked if he saw the paparazzi in the area of the accident, Gourmelon said that they weren’t there. The paparazzi was previously blamed for Princess Diana’s accident after it was revealed that they were chasing her car while inside a tunnel in Paris.
In an attempt to escape the paparazzi, Princess Diana’s driver sped off and the accident occurred. The incident also resulted in the death of Princess Diana’s then-boyfriend, Dodi Al Fayed. Gourmelon stressed that when he arrived at the scene, there was not a single paparazzi in the area.
The interviewer also revealed his conversation with the firefighter. “ He said he was saddened and shocked to hear she later died. He thought she would survive… As a firefighter, he says it was an ordinary road accident… What made it extraordinary was the person involved, the world’s most famous woman he tried so desperately to save,” the interviewer said.
Princess Diana’s driver was the only one who survived the crash. However, he was unable to recount what transpired in full detail.
